The Ayurvedic Yoga Massage Therapy is a unique technique that was, and continues to be, developed by Master Kusum Modak from Pune, India. She combined her knowledge of traditional Ayruvedic massage with the experience she gained from many years of studying yoga with Sri BKS Iyengar, to create a truely unique style of bodywork.
The session lasts for 90 minutes and is performed on a mat for free movement, flow and a sense of grounding. It combines deep tissue massage with an Ayurvedic herbal powder, some assisted yoga stretches and coordinated breathwork.
Pure Sesame oil is typically used for this massage, chosen for it's ayurvedic balancing properties, that is then combined with a herbal powder derived from the root of the Calamus plant (a member of the ginger family), known for its detoxifying properties that purify the blood and organs. It is anti-septic, anti-inflammatory and exfoliating, helping to bring the toxins out of the body.
Some of the Benifits of Ayurvedic Yoga Massage include:
Releases stress and tension
Eliminates Toxins from the body
Increases lung capacity and brings awareness to the breath
Promotes correct posture
Improves respiratory patterns
Induces a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing
